Beginning of the semester

Things to expect

  1. Schedule adjustment or drop/add period - through first week of semester
  2. Course roster before classes begin - delivered on-line
  3. Course roster at end of first two weeks

Schedule for the beginning of the semester (check with Heidi or Carolyn, need to check on what is sent, when, and how off-campus people hand it in.)

You will receive an email at the beginning of the semester with a student roster. You will also receive another email with the roster at the end of the first week. This is the end of the drop/add period.

You will receive a paper roster two weeks after the beginning of the semester. You are to check student enrollment and sign the roster. It should be handed into the department secretary.

End of semester

Things to expect

Final examination - Faculty members are expected to give an examination or a similar summary evaluation of the students' work in each class during the scheduled exam period. No faculty member may change the time of a scheduled final examination without the permission of the College Dean. Students must take the examinations with their class at the regularly scheduled time unless prior permission for alternative arrangements is obtained from the instructor. Lists of final grades must be submitted to the Registrar's Office as soon as possible after each final exam is given, but no later than forty-eight hours after the close of the last final examination.

You will receive a final grade roster from the department secretary. There will be instructions included with the roster. Grades are due the Monday after final examination period by 10:00 am in the Registrar's Office.

Posting student grades - According to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), students grades are not to be posted.

Submitting midterm grades

You will need to submit midterm grades for all freshmen, new students (transfers), and students in academic trouble. You will receive a grade roster with only those students' names about a week before the roster is due. See academic schedule for date.

Procedures for student course withdrawal

Students may withdraw from your course through the 12th week of the semester. It is the student's decision whether or not to withdraw and the student's responsibility to have you sign the form and submit the form to the Registrar's Office.
